Sonali Phogat's 2 aides sent to 13-day judicial custody for her murder

The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) at Mapusa, Goa, on Saturday sent two accused arrested in connection with the alleged murder of actor and Haryana BJP leader Sonali Phogat to 13-day judicial custody. The two are Sonali Phogat's aides, Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh. Phogat died in Goa in August under mysterious circumstances. She was brought dead to St Anthony Hospital at Anjuna in North Goa district on August 23 from her hotel. Doctors had then prima facie said she appeared to have died of a heart attack. However, the autopsy revealed “multiple blunt force injuries” on her body. A probe into the death of the BJP leader led to the arrest of her personal assistant Sudhir Sangwan, another aide, Sukhwinder Singh, restaurateur Edwin Nunes, and alleged drug peddlers Dattaprasad Gaonkar and Ramdas Mandrekar. EXPENSIVE CARS, FURNITURE MISSING

Amid speculations over the mysterious death of Sonali Phogat, it was found that expensive furniture and costly cars parked at the BJP leader's house were missing. The information came after the Goa Police, who are probing her death, said that the murder accused and Phogat's aide Sudhir Sangwan had eyed her property and wealth. In a statement, Goa Police implied that Sangwan was not only keen on acquiring her property but also wanted to grab her farmhouse on a 20-year lease. Sonali Phogat's brother Watan Dhaka told India Today that she owned a Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Scorpio, Ford Endeavour and Tata Safari SUVs, out of which only one vehicle has been traced in Gurugram.

SUPREME COURT STAYS DEMOLITION OF CURLIES

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court stayed the demolition of Curlies restaurant in Goa soon after its demolition began on Friday subject to the condition that no commercial activities would take place there. The restaurant recently came in the news for its link to the death of BJP leader Sonali Phogat. It was alleged that Phogat was drugged at a party at the restaurant, hours before her death.
