Lt Gen (retd) Amjad Shoaib will be issued another notice from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for sharing "fake news" about Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif's meeting with an Israeli delegation, sources said Wednesday.
The sources said that the FIA had summoned the former military official on September 7 through a notice sent out a few days earlier after he falsely claimed about the meeting between the Pakistani premier and an Israeli team.
However, he didn't show up before the FIA's Cybercrimes Wing, they added.
Amjad Shoaib had claimed that the prime minister held the meeting with the Israeli delegation while he was visiting a Gulf country.
The Cybercrimes Wing is conducting an inquiry against Amjad Shoaib regarding the allegedly baseless video.
